Over the years BGA has provided Close Protection Services (Bodyguards) to royalty, political figures, business executives, celebrities and sports personalities. In order to ensure the highest quality Protectors in the industry, BGA established the BGA Academy to provide a continuous flow of highly trained Bodyguards for the international arena. Our trainers are all Close Protection specialists who have spent significant time in the Protection arena and are thus able to provide the most comprehensive training to the industry.

The BGA Close Protection Course

BGA offers a comprehensive Close Protection course that equips students with the theory and practical knowledge needed to start a career in this dynamic and fast-growing industry. Our standard course is run on a full-time basis over a 26 day period and courses can be tailored to clients needs.

During the course you will spend time in the classroom, on the shooting range, on the road and out on the street conducting scenario based planning excercises. Our standard course material includes but is not limited to, the following modules:

• Providing Static Protection to designated persons
• Providing Close Protection to persons whilst in transit
• Providing Protection whilst embussing or debussing
• Providing Pedestrian Escorts to designated persons
• Handling and use of a handgun
• Use of handgun for business purposes
• Applying tactical knowledge in the use of a firearm
• Advanced driving techniques
• Requirements for becoming a security service provider
• Basic first aid treatment
• Demonstrating knowledge of firearms

Once candidates have successfully completed our course and are qualified as a Close Protection Officer they will be evaluated by our independent panel of Protection Specialists. Candidates meeting our minimum criteria will then be placed on the BGA Online Protector database and the elite candidates expertise will be showcased to our select clientele.
